Victoria's story that she is writing at home...

CHAPTER 1

It was a normal terrible school day for me and my friend Samuel. We were often the silliest boys in class so we got caned quite a lot. We were wondering if that would happen today.

We guessed it would. Then we thought about it and knew that it would.

That there was no point getting ready because it hurt so much that it would go straight through the itchy blanket that I was going to use to try and block out all of the pain.

On the way to King Richards's school for boys it suddenly started to rain and I knew it would soon get a lot heavier and I raced Samuel to school hoping that I wouldn't get wet.

However unfortunately I did. Then when we arrived at school we realised we were late and guess what that meant? That's right you guessed it 2 whips from the cane for us. Told you we would get it.

As we trudged into the classroom we were asked why we were late. To be honest I had no clue why we were because we ran most of the way there.

I had no choice but to speak up to defend my friend from the terrible Mr Hardstick. Life was terrible in those days with all of the wars and things going on.

Later that afternoon we went into the hall to have our lunch which looked like a bowl of cat sick. Although it was terrible I ate it because I wasn't allowed to leave the room until every last scrap was finished.

How unfair is that it's our fault if we get ill if we don't eat enough. Right ?
