When a siren does off, and the phone lines are brought down by bombs, I would gear up, put the message in my satchel and set off. I like parts of my job, since I get out and about, plenty of fresh air and loads of great scenery.

An overcoat or mackintosh, Comb,1 pair of Wellington boots, Towel, Soap, Facecloth .Toothbrush ,Boots or shoes,Plimsolls,Sandwiches, Packet of nuts and raisins , Dry biscuits, Barley sugar (rather than sugar) and an Apple.we were evacuated to the country to escape the german bombs.
the womens land army looked after animals, ploughed the fields, dug up potatoes, harvested the crops, killed the rats, dug and hoed. also they worked 48 hours a week in the winter and 50 hours a week in the summer. Maddie

There are 1.4 million Wardens in Brtain during WW2 and Wardens gave out gas masks to the public people.

ReplyDelete1.They had to bribe the children to do things. One of the objects they'd give was a carrot ice lolly.
2. They kept running over to the school to help out there. Some schools had less teachers, because they died in bombing accidents.
